Le Chalet Limousin

Charming holiday cottage « Le Chalet » in the heart of the Limousine country side in the departement of Haute- Vienne, on the border of the departement of  Creuse. The Limousin has the advantage of being in central France (about 3 and a half hour drive from Paris), therefore, not very far from many exceptional tourist sites.

Entirely renovated in 2023, Le Chalet is a single detached dwelling of 62 m² situated on a big piece of private land of about 3000 m² with a view over the lake (of 0,35 ha) and the surrounding greenery. Come with family or friends, the Chalet can accommodate 4 people confortably. Le Chalet has 2 bedrooms. The upstairs bedroom of 15 m² has a double bed (Queen 160cm) that includes a private balcony and an air conditioning/heating unit. The downstairs bedroom of 8,5 m² has 2 single beds and also has a view of the lake. There is a small living room space of 7,5 m² on the mezzanine with a couch and comfy chair as well as the TV and another air conditioning/heating unit. The bright kitchen/dinning room of 23 m² is perfectly functional and has everything you need for cooking and baking. You can enjoy a barbecue on the brand new terrasse, a nap under the trees, maybe even a game of the famous french boules. Everything you may need is at your disposition. 

It is also possible to do a little fishing... We use the lake as our nursery for carp, but there are also some little fish that can be fun for the kids. We can lend you a fishing rod if that's something you'd like to do. In any case, you won't be bothered by the noise out here! Le Chalet is a very calm and tranquille place to stay and recharge your batteries. But beware, the lake is not secured, children must be under the strict supervision of their parents or guardians to avoid any accidents.

In the area, there are many trails for taking long walks. We have a map of the local trails for you, or you can just ask Dacia who would love to advise you. The river Gartempe is close by, where you can play with the kids or the dogs or just get your feet wet. A few lakes where it is possible to swim (lac de Sagnat or lac de Saint-Pardoux), they are both about 20 minutes drive away. There are also quite a bit of fishing lakes and Guillaume will be happy to advise you on his favorite spots.

On the property we have a big garage that is locked. We give you the possiblity to put away, if need be, bikes, motorcycles or any other material that needs to be secured. The land around the Chalet is big enough to park several cars or caravans easily.

Animals are accepted, as long as they are house trained, sociable and respectful (as much as an animal can be). We also ask that they not be allowed on the furniture (couches, beds).  We have 2 dogs ourselves, so if you are afraid, please let us know when you reserve so that we make sure they are put away. They love to say hello to new guests.

Groceries can be bought in Bessines sur Gartempe (about 15 minutes away). There you can find an Intermarché and an Aldi as well as bakeries and butchers and whatnot. And also in La Souterraine (about 18 minutes away) where there are many grocery stores like Leclerc, Carrefour, Lidl as well as bakeries and butchers and many other shops. All this information is in the booklet in the Chalet.

The biggest city near by is Limoges and is about 40 minutes away in the car. Limoges offers many cultural outings as well as the porcelaine workshops and stores that the city is known for. There are activities for all to be found there... Shopping in the center, many good restaurants, obstacle course in the trees, ice skating rink, indoor playground, The Jump trampoline park, aquarium, rock climbing, the big public pool Aquapolis, theme park Bellevuefor the litte ones, the beautiful animal park Reynou or even the Limousine park to discover all the riches of the Limousin. There is definitely something for everyone! Whether you enjoy visiting historical monuments, letting off some steam or just relaxing, Limoges has everything.
